The First & Only ESRI K-12 Authorized Teaching Program
In Illinois
Since 2000, we have been working on the best ways of bringing GIS & GPS
to schools, teachers and students. Having field tested the classes on several
occasions, two things developed from the training. One was the need for more
classes for different entry levels to GIS and GPS. The second was more hands
on time in doing both GIS and GPS activities during the classroom instruction.
The classes below are the ones we have in place with more
planned as well. We tried to make these activities something teachers can
pull
off the shelf and use when needed. We have developed multi-chapter manuals
with step by step procedures with pictures, data on CDs, and activities
that can
be done when needed. We feel that the NEW approach will make these technologies
easier to bring to students and the classroom. Check out the past
classes
from 2007 or 2008
or 2009 or 2010 or
2011!
